Good podcast, but one problem is how do we know what we are being told about these people is the "truth"? I have very little confidence in the MSM nowadays and always try to look to see if there are other alternative viewpoints that haven't been mentioned. I agree with your thoughts on Nigel Farage and Rupert Lowe and I think that highlights an important point. We may have strong positive views about someone, but when further contradictory evidence comes along we should be willing to accept we were wrong and change our minds. Unfortunately, I think many people nowadays, Christians included, are unwilling to do that.
Hi Mike, that's a really good question. At the end of the day we can't really know for sure what we are being told. I think social media (especially X) does help, because you can see what someone says "from the horses mouth", so to speak. But I do agree that we need to be prepared to change our mind about someone. That's what happened to me with Farage to be honest - I was broadly positive towards him up until the events of the last six months.
I was saying to another commenter just now, I think the only people we can really trust are those we know and love, when we really do know and can see people's lives and the fruit of the Spirit. When it comes to those in the media and politics, we can only judge by what we see -- although I think they do reveal themselves in the end.
