This is well-written and deeply true. I have only just begun to formally call myself Christian, but I have already seen the discomfort many Christians have with speaking out about things that are controversial. I was wondering if that’s how I should be too, but I’m glad to see others who share my worldview. What has really brought me to Jesus is his ultimate embrace of truth, even when speaking it means you will be ostracized. Thank you for your perspective, I am very glad to have found your writing.
Thank you - it means a lot to hear that. A verse which has jumped out at me time and again over the last few years is John 18:37: "Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
I must have read those verses many times before, but they've taken on a whole new significance lately.
If you're relatively new to Christianity, you might also appreciate what I do elsewhere -- I run Understand the Bible, which is videos teaching people the Bible and Christianity in a systematic way. Like how things used to be before the church forgot everything it learned in the last 2000 years. Available here: https://utbible.substack.com/ -- just in case it's helpful for you. God bless!
Wow, I haven’t heard that verse before- I love it, thank you for sharing. And it gets at the reason why I am earnestly coming to Christianity now: the resounding truth of it.
I am definitely interested in your Bible videos since I’ve only just started reading the Bible and I’ve been wanting help understanding all it has to offer. What a great resource I’ve found! Thank you & God bless you!
Very good🙏
