Rethinking the Reformation

The importance of smashing the power of the institutional church

Many people, including myself up until recently, would have summarised the Reformation as being about the doctrine of justification by faith alone. This was the cornerstone of the Reformation. However, I believe there is something even more fundamental at play which often gets missed: it’s about the power of one man with his Bible to stand up against the might of an institution. I believe we need to recover this same spirit once again to regain the church from the institutions which claim to be “church”.
